Even the biggest problems can be made small by the coordinated action of the many. That just rarely happens—thus far.
Today we face what seem to be impossible tasks: stopping a global pandemic, stabilizing the planet’s climate, and finding a sustainable and equitable path of economic growth for our people. While these may be intractable using old top-down thinking, if we broaden the tent, we can change the equation.
At Earth2.0, we encourage coopetition — the pairing of cooperation and competition.
As part of each Earth2.0 challenge, we invite our participants to share their progress through our platform. Through this constant stream of feedback, we can advance the game, increase engagement within communities and the world, and take important steps towards addressing COVID-19.
By sharing their experiences, Earth2.0 challengers can also take an active role in creating a new sense of community and swap “best practices” to see which techniques were effective and what failed and why. Methodologies can be shared, adapted, and improved upon by other communities pushing forward together. At the end of the day, we all want to defeat COVID-19 and the real win is everyone working together to solve this deadly problem. Join the movement and challenge yourself with Earth2.0!
The University of New Mexico, already a top hospital in the nation is stepping up as first adopter of this approach, by challenging itself to vaccinate everyone in 10 days. With lessons learned from this challenge they will take 10 to100 to the next level and vaccinate everyone in their community.
In collaboration with the University of New Mexico, the Earth2 project is helping to present a 10 day series of seminars on Vaccines and Vaccine Hesitancy, covering topics that range from vaccine-myths to Native American implications and special aspects having to do with other minority and LGBTQ communities, to hearing trusted voices. Have a look. You may find what you need, in order to help change minds.
Solving the most complex societal programs involves a whole community approach. That's why I'm so excited about the Earth 2 Challenge to reach 100% vaccination which will make our society healthier and safer. But to succeed, we need everyone to participate.
Solving the world’s problems is a big task that can’t be accomplished alone. Luckily, everyone who cares is capable of contributing to solutions. Earth 2.0 is an all-inclusive initiative that won’t choose between experts and citizens, between top down and grassroots approaches. We recognize that our best opportunity to address problems with great complexity and scope is to investigate all approaches – institutional and citizen-centric efforts alike. Therefore, we choose both.
